FAQ's

Below is a selection of the most frequently asked questions that Richard receives. We hope you find the answer to your questions on this page, however please do not hesitate to contact Richard to personally answer any question you may have.

How much do you charge?

I pride myself on offering you a quality service tailor made for your events requirements. The price I quote you will depend on several factors such as the number of guests you have, how long you need me to be at your event for, and the distance I have to travel. Pick up the phone and give me a call or E-Mail me direct and we can discuss your event, I will be able to give you a price straight away. Make sure you include the date of your event the start and finish time you have in mind, how many guests you are expecting and the location. I will endeavor to get back to you within 24 hours.

Is your price negotiable?

No, with Magicians you very much get what you pay for, if you shop around you will receive quotes ranging from £200 to £1000+. Magic is an art form which requires lots of innovation and practice. Each performer will have decided his own worth and should have relevant references and experience to back up their cost. I am not the cheapest or the most expensive. I am a very happy medium. Because of this, asking to negotiate on the price is a bit of an insult to the performer. Personally, I have spent many years fine tuning my repertoire and I believe my prices offer very good value indeed for the professional standard of performance I will present at your event.

How do we pay you?

Payment is by either Cash or Cheque please. Delayed payments (30 days) are only available to corporate clients.

What happens when I book you?

When you agree to book me I will e-mail across to you three documents. The first is an invoice which will contain all the booking details including the date and time of the booking and also the agreed fee. The second document is my Terms and Conditions. It contains all the stuff too boring to put on this website. It has no hidden surprises and nobody has ever objected to anything contained within them. The third is a copy of my public liability insurance certificate, all of my quotes are inclusive of the insurance. Once you have read and are happy with all the information, you simply send me an e-mail back stating that you are happy to go ahead with the booking. It is at this point that the date in my diary is confirmed as your slot and will not be booked out to anyone else.

Do you do Children’s Birthday Parties?

I am not specifically a Children’s Entertainer and my Magic is designed with adults and older kids in mind. However I have no problem doing a few tricks for the younger ones if they are at an event that I’m performing at. I always keep a few simple tricks in my pockets for youngsters. If you are looking for someone to come and entertain a room full of 5 - 10 year olds then I am not the man for you. I don’t want to have a heart attack before I am forty. I can recommend someone for the job though, give me a call and ill put you in touch with the best Children’s Entertainer I know. Teenagers however love what I do and I think a close-up magician at a teenager's party adds something very special and memorable to the party that is different. So 13 years old and up is perfectly suitable for what I do.

How do I know just how good you are?

I have an excellent reputation and I am more than happy to offer you references from previous clients who I have worked for. The world of the Professional Magician in the 21st Century is extremely competitive and quite simply if you’re not good, you don’t eat. I have spent the last 15 years performing on a daily basis and I love what I do. I think the love for what I do shows through in each of my performances. The Biography page of this website will paint a picture of this for you.

What happens if you cancel?

In the highly unlikely event that I cancel on you, I will find you another Professional Magician from my circle of Magician colleagues who can perform at your event. I will mention that me cancelling is highly unlikely unless I have been run down by a bus.

How did David Copperfield make the Statue of Liberty Disappear?

He is the very best. In fact I will even go as far as to say that if you have a chance to book him for your event over me, do it….. I have a feeling he might be a bit more expensive though.
